children & family ministry

Mission: To help children into a relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to partner with and equip parents on how to pass the faith on to their children.

  • "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frame of your houses and on your gates." Deuteronomy 6:5-9

Family Bible Time: We know everyone’s schedule is different, so we encourage each family to mark a time on your calendar for Family Bible time. As a church that respects and encourages parents as the primary disciple-makers, this is a foundational way that to develop your faith relationship with your children. Family Bible Time provides a video with questions to discuss as a family and a music video all under the “Featured Video” for that week.

Registration: We ask that each family register their children so we can know how many children are participating and so we can communicate with you about any upcoming changes.

Prioritizing time with God helps us build up dedicated warriors for Christ!

Safety

We review all safety procedures with each teacher and volunteer so they are prepared should an emergency arise. We also use a dedicated check-in system and tracking system, so we ask parents to sign their children both in and out of our childcare program.

Special Needs

We hope each child feels included and knows how precious they are to God’s kingdom. That’s why we have a special buddy system for those children who want to participate during Sunday school, but might need a little more assistance or guidance to help them feel successful. We want to understand your child, so we encourage the parents who have any concerns to express them to the leaders involved so we can set up your child for success. We also have a Sensory Room which is for all age ranges that can help address a wide variety of student needs. Please contact Valerie Bartel for more information.

Volunteers

All volunteers who work with children are required to have a Kid-safe form or background check completed prior to working with children. We also have volunteer training at the beginning of each school year to review all existing policies.

First Communion

This is a special time for second-graders (and older) to learn more about the true meaning of communion. We find this is an opportunity for them to not only grow in their faith and spiritual development, but it helps build an even deeper connection with the parents as they take part in the classes with their children. The First Communion course consists of three classes during the Lent season.
